The best AI interview platforms for high volume technical hiring in India (2026)
This is a BerriBot blog, so we're one of the options listed here. We've tried to write it so you could use it to buy someone else.
We went through every vendor's own security, trust and privacy pages in September 2026 to check three things that matter in India and get skipped in most roundups: whether the AI actually conducts the interview or just scores an assessment, what the platform claims to detect when someone cheats, and where Indian candidate data physically sits.
The last one produced the most useful finding in the whole exercise, so it goes first.
Not one vendor publishes an India data residency commitment
We checked all of them. Talview, HireVue, iMocha, HackerRank, HackerEarth, Zappyhire, TurboHire, Xobin, InCruiter, SHL, Willo, HirePro, FloCareer, Eklavvya, Mercer Mettl, Sapia.ai, Interviewer.AI, BarRaiser. And BerriBot.
Several display a DPDP or DPDPA badge. None of them says where Indian candidate data is stored. HirePro is the clearest illustration, because the same page carrying the DPDPA claim also says the platform runs on AWS without naming an India region. HackerEarth's privacy policy is the sharpest version: it names the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, UK GDPR, CCPA, PIPEDA and Singapore's PDPA, and doesn't mention India's DPDP Act at all, despite a Bengaluru entity. Xobin is the most substantive of the set, and even that is a contractual reference to DPDPA 2023 in their data processing addendum rather than a residency statement.
We're in the same position. BerriBot publishes no certification list and no residency statement today, and it's on our roadmap rather than on our website.
A badge and a data centre location are different claims. If residency matters to your legal team, ask every vendor on your shortlist, in writing, which AWS or Azure region their India candidate data sits in. Most of us will answer. None of us publish it.
One useful bit of context while you're asking: the DPDP Rules were notified in November 2025, and the cross border transfer rule, Rule 15, is scheduled to commence in May 2027. MeitY proposed in January 2026 to shorten that window to twelve months, which would pull it to November 2026, so check where that proposal landed before you rely on the date. Rule 15 as written defers the actual mechanism to future government orders, and no such order has been issued. So anyone telling you today that DPDP requires data localisation is wrong. Section 16 of the Act is a blacklist model, where transfer abroad is allowed by default and the government may restrict specific countries. No country has been notified. Ask about residency because it's good practice and because sectoral rules like RBI's still bind independently, not because DPDP currently mandates it.
What we mean by an AI interview platform
Three quite different products get sold under this label and the distinction matters when you're hiring 3,000 engineers.
An assessment platform gives candidates a test, usually coding, and scores it. HackerRank and HackerEarth grew up here. An AI interviewer holds an actual conversation with the candidate, asks follow up questions and scores the answers. An interview as a service company sends you a human interviewer. Several vendors now do two or three of these.
For volume technical hiring the question is usually whether the conversation itself can be automated without the process becoming worthless, and that's where the vendors diverge most.
The shortlist
BerriBot
Ours, so read the rest sceptically. Berri MasterMind runs adaptive interviews that pull questions from the candidate's own resume, then move into role specific questions and coding in an integrated environment. Berri Proctor detects micro-signals through 3D liveness detection and lip sync analysis, alongside identity verification, environment analysis and behavioural monitoring. In January 2026 we added smart glasses detection after training our vision systems on the publicly available Meta Ray-Ban devices, with an immediate flag, a warning to the candidate and a notification to the interviewer. Berri Connect handles calls, WhatsApp, SMS and scheduling ahead of the interview. Engineering is in Coimbatore.
Where we're thin: no published certifications, no named ATS integration list, no G2 reviews, no published pricing, no published Indian language list.
Best fit: high volume technical hiring where interview fraud is the specific problem.
Talview
India founded, by IIT Bombay classmates in 2012, and now positioned around integrity rather than hiring. Ivy is their AI interviewer. The proctoring operation behind it is the real asset: automated, record and review, live human, and in centre proctoring, plus a lockdown browser and an integrity score. Named Indian customers include TCS, Cognizant, Reliance Industries and HCLTech. 2,000 plus assessments, 80 plus programming languages, 16 named ATS integrations. ISO 27001 and SOC 2 claimed, though on two different pages that list different frameworks, and their compliance page hasn't been updated since April 2022. G2 4.4 from 118 reviews.
They market against deepfakes and proxy networks at the platform level. Worth knowing that identity verification is a separate product from Ivy rather than built into it.
Best fit: enterprises that run certification exams alongside hiring.
HirePro
Bengaluru, part of the Careernet group, and the most specific published fraud detection spec we found anywhere. Their AI Recruiter page claims 30 plus fraud signals including real time detection of deepfakes, virtual cameras, recorded feeds and stand-ins, unauthorised AI assistance detected through content, style, speech patterns and typing analysis, government ID matched against face and name and rechecked during the interview, and detection of mid session identity switches. Named Indian customers include Axis Bank and Delhivery. They also published the only India specific cheating figures we could find, via trade press, covering 900,000 assessments.
No published methodology behind the 30 plus signals figure, no pricing, no G2 presence. Treat the number as their claim.
Best fit: Indian enterprises where fraud detection specificity is the buying criterion.
InCruiter
Bengaluru, with a US office in Plano. IncBot does voice and video interviews. Their fraud claims are unusually concrete: eye movement tracking, dual voice detection, multiple faces in frame, tab switching, detection of altered videos, face swap attempts and AI generated voices, all rolled into a risk score on the report. They also run an interview as a service business with 4,500 interviewers, which is a useful hybrid if you want humans for later rounds.
The best thing about them from a buyer's perspective is that they publish actual prices in rupees. IncVid Pro is ₹1,99,999 a year plus GST for 100 interview credits, Pro+ is ₹5,99,999 a year for 250. Nobody else in this category publishes INR figures. Their compliance claim is "SOC 2, ISO, GDPR compliant" with no ISO number attached, so treat the ISO part as unverified. G2 4.6 from 137 reviews.
Best fit: mid-market Indian companies that want to know the price before the third sales call.
HackerRank
Founded in India in 2009, now US headquartered with a Bangalore office. Chakra is their AI interviewer and runs voice or video sessions with adaptive follow ups and coding in an integrated IDE, scored against a rubric. Their integrity work is focused on code: plagiarism detection which they claim, in their own comparison content, hits 93 percent accuracy, Proctor Mode monitoring typing patterns and problem solving consistency, Secure Mode catching tab switching and copy paste. 22 named ATS integrations including Darwinbox. ISO 27001 and SOC 1 and SOC 2 claimed. Flipkart case study on campus hiring. G2 4.6 from 561 reviews, the largest review base in this list.
Published pricing, which is rare: Starter at $165 a month billed annually, 120 candidate attempts a year, $20 per attempt after that.
They do not claim identity verification or deepfake detection. Their own writing names candidate impersonation as an industry problem without claiming to solve it, which is more honest than most.
Best fit: engineering-led hiring where code quality assessment is the point.
iMocha
Pune, operating as Tecknack Technologies Private Limited alongside a Delaware entity, and for India customers the contract is governed by Indian law with jurisdiction in Pune. That's the strongest India entity position of anyone here. TARA is their conversational AI, alongside automated video interviews. Their anti-impersonation approach is government ID plus selfie verification in about 10 seconds, face detection for unrecognised, multiple or absent faces, a cheating intensity rating, browser patrolling, and virtual machine detection. 20 named ATS integrations including Darwinbox and Ceipal. G2 4.4 from 276 reviews.
No published certification page, no pricing, and no deepfake detection claim.
Best fit: skills-led hiring where the India contracting entity matters to legal.
HackerEarth
Bengaluru entity, San Francisco HQ, founded 2012. AI Screener, AI Interviewer and FaceCode for live coding. Their Smart Browser detects screen sharing, parallel applications, window resizing, copy paste, malicious keystrokes, OS notifications, virtual machine use and developer tools. Named customers include Siemens India and GlobalLogic. G2 4.5 from 608 reviews.
Worth noting what isn't claimed: no tab switching detection, no AI or ChatGPT detection, no face detection, no identity verification. Capterra lists $209 and $419 a month, though they don't publish that themselves.
Best fit: developer assessment at volume where you'll handle identity separately.
Eklavvya
Pune, run by Splashgain Technology Solutions, CERT-In certified and ISO 27001:2013. The only vendor in this entire exercise that names specific Indian languages: Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Gujarati, with reports generated in the regional language. Video, voice and text interview modes, hybrid AI and human evaluation, face recognition identity verification, multi-face detection, device detection and anti-LLM prevention.
If you're hiring outside English in India, this is the only vendor that has publicly said it can. Everyone else either omits Indian languages or says "all major languages" without listing any.
Best fit: non-English volume hiring in India.
Zappyhire and TurboHire
Both India headquartered, both strong on recruitment automation rather than the interview itself. Zappyhire is in Kochi with Federal Bank, Maruti Suzuki, Shaadi.com and Himalaya named as customers, and ISO 27001, SOC 1, SOC 2, GDPR, VAPT and DPDP badges on the homepage. TurboHire is in Hyderabad with Tata Motors, Britannia, Pine Labs, Flipkart, Lenskart, Cipla and Swiggy named, ISO 27001, ISO 27701, SOC 1, SOC 2, DPDPA and CERT-In badges, and $6M raised from IvyCap.
Neither publishes a security page behind those badges. Zappyhire's /security URL returns a 404. Whether TurboHire's SuperAgent actually conducts interviews rather than automating evaluation isn't clear from their site, so ask before shortlisting them as an AI interviewer.
Best fit: teams whose bottleneck is the workflow around hiring rather than the interview.
Xobin
Xobin Technologies Private Limited, Tamil Nadu registered, founded 2016. NURA runs agentic role-specific interviews with real-time adaptation, backed by 3,400 skill tests and 2,500 role-based assessments. Their trust whitepaper is more substantial than most: ISO 27001 verified annually, SOC 2 Type II verified annually, CSA STAR, GDPR alignment, and data processing addendums referencing DPDPA 2023. Proctoring includes eye-gaze tracking, with video processed locally and not permanently stored. Pricing is structured with a distinct India region, though no figures are published. G2 4.7 from 232 reviews, the highest rating here.
Named Indian customers include Reliance Retail and Digit Insurance. No named ATS integrations.
Best fit: assessment-heavy hiring where a real security document matters.
The ones we'd leave off
HireVue is the strongest platform in this category globally, with FedRAMP Moderate, ISO 27001 and 27701, SOC 2 Type 2, a published bias audit and 1,300 validation studies behind it. For an Indian buyer the problem is location: their published hosting footprint is the US and Europe, with no India data centre, no India entity and no DPDP position anywhere in their material. Shortlist them if you're a multinational hiring globally. Think harder if your hiring is India-only.
Sapia.ai is text chat only, Melbourne based, with named customers including Woolworths, Qantas and Costa Coffee. Their own product page lists nine languages and none is Indian. Weak fit for Indian technical hiring.
micro1 has pivoted. As of September 2026 their site presents an AI data lab, not the Zara AI recruiter. Capterra still carries a stale listing describing a product that isn't on their homepage.
Talscale is a live coding assessment tool, not an AI interviewer, and publishes almost nothing.
Willo, SHL, Interviewer.AI and BarRaiser all have real products and none is built around Indian volume technical hiring. Willo publishes prices in four currencies and none of them is rupees, which tells you who they're for.
How we'd actually run the evaluation
Shortlist three, not eight. Give each the same 50 candidates for the same live requisition, and compare the outputs side by side rather than the demos.
Ask every vendor the same five questions. Which AWS or Azure region does Indian candidate data sit in. What happens in the ten seconds after a fraud signal fires. Which of our ATS systems has a connector in production today, with a customer we can call. What's the false positive rate on your integrity flags, and what happens to a candidate who gets wrongly flagged. And what does this cost at our volume, in rupees.
The fourth question is the one that separates serious vendors from marketing. Published research on virtual camera detection shows that catching 99 percent of injection attacks can mean rejecting roughly two thirds of genuine users at that operating point. Any vendor quoting a detection rate without a false positive rate is giving you half the number. In hiring, a false rejection isn't an inconvenience, it's a discrimination complaint.
FAQ
Which AI interview platform is best for high volume technical hiring in India?
There isn't one answer. For fraud detection specificity, HirePro and InCruiter publish the most detailed claims and BerriBot builds detection into the live interview. For code assessment depth, HackerRank. For non-English Indian language interviews, Eklavvya is the only vendor that names specific languages. For exam delivery alongside hiring, Talview.
Do any AI interview platforms store data in India?
None publishes an India data residency commitment. We checked the security, trust and privacy pages of 19 vendors in September 2026, including our own. Several display DPDP badges without stating where data is stored. Ask each vendor directly and get the answer in writing.
Does India's DPDP Act require data localisation for candidate data?
No. Section 16 of the DPDP Act 2023 uses a blacklist model, where transfers abroad are permitted by default and the government may restrict specific notified countries. No country has been notified. Rule 15 of the DPDP Rules covers cross border transfer and commences around May 2027, and it defers the actual mechanism to future government orders that have not been issued. Separately, entities notified as Significant Data Fiduciaries face a narrow restriction on specified data categories, and sectoral rules like RBI's payment data localisation still apply independently.
Which AI interview platforms publish their pricing?
Very few. InCruiter publishes exact rupee figures, ₹1,99,999 a year for IncVid Pro and ₹5,99,999 for Pro+, plus GST. HackerRank publishes $165 a month billed annually. Willo publishes in pounds, dollars, euros and Australian dollars but not rupees. Talview, HireVue, BerriBot, iMocha, Xobin, HirePro and most others quote only.
Can AI interview platforms detect proxy candidates?
Some claim to. HirePro claims 30 plus fraud signals including deepfake, virtual camera and mid session identity switch detection. InCruiter claims face swap and AI generated voice detection with a risk score. BerriBot detects micro-signals through 3D liveness and lip sync analysis and flags smart glasses in real time. None of these vendors, ours included, publishes methodology or false positive rates, so treat the claims as claims and test them on your own candidates.
How much interview fraud is there actually?
Gartner's July 2025 survey of 3,000 candidates found 6 percent admitted to interview fraud, either posing as someone else or having someone pose as them. That's a self reported admission rate, so it's a floor. In India, AuthBridge's 2025 report puts background verification discrepancy rates at 9.46 percent in IT and ITeS and 11.69 percent in BFSI, though those measure resume and employment falsification rather than interview impersonation. We could not find any credible published figure isolating proxy interview rates in India specifically, so be sceptical of anyone quoting one.
