HireVue alternatives for Indian enterprises: 8 options compared
Most "HireVue alternatives" articles open by explaining that HireVue scores candidates on their facial expressions. That stopped being true in 2020. HireVue removed visual analysis from its assessments during that year and announced it publicly in January 2021, alongside an algorithmic audit by ORCAA. Fortune, reporting the decision, put the contribution of non-verbal data at roughly 0.25 percent of predictive power in most cases. Anyone still building an argument on facial scoring hasn't checked in six years.
We sell a competing product, so take that correction as a signal about the rest of this page.
The real reasons Indian enterprises look elsewhere are narrower and more practical, and they aren't really about product quality.
Why Indian enterprises actually look past HireVue
Where the data lives. HireVue's published statement is that they're "co-located in the U.S. and Europe to serve clients in 180+ countries worldwide." We could find no India data centre, no India entity, no India based support and no mention of the DPDP Act anywhere in their trust, legal or compliance material. Their privacy notice also carves candidate data out entirely, governing it through per customer contracts, which means the location of an Indian candidate's interview recording isn't publicly disclosed at all. For a GCC or an IT services firm, that's a procurement conversation you'd rather not be having.
Price and contracting. HireVue publishes no pricing. Third party sites quote figures around $35,000, though one says per month and another says per year and neither sources it to HireVue, so treat all of them as noise. What we hear consistently is that HireVue is priced for the Fortune 100, which is who they say they serve: over 60 percent of it.
Language. HireVue claims 35 plus languages. They don't enumerate them and we couldn't find an Indian language list.
Fraud, specifically. HireVue lists cheating and fraud mitigation among its features. It isn't the thing the company is built around. Indian volume hiring has an active paid proxy industry, and the detection question comes up in a way it doesn't for a US graduate scheme.
Set against that: HireVue has ISO 27001:2022, ISO 27701, SOC 2 Type 2, SOC 3 and FedRAMP Moderate, a published New York Local Law 144 bias audit run by DCI Consulting with real impact ratios, 1,300 validation studies, a named Chief Science Officer, and tiered ATS partnerships with live customer counts. Nobody on the list below matches that documentation. If your evaluation scores vendors on evidence produced, stay with HireVue.
The alternatives
BerriBot
Ours. Berri MasterMind runs adaptive interviews built from the candidate's own resume, then role questions, then coding in an integrated environment. Berri Proctor detects micro-signals through 3D liveness detection and lip sync analysis, plus identity verification, environment analysis and behavioural monitoring. In January 2026 we added smart glasses detection after training our vision systems on the publicly available Meta Ray-Ban devices, with an immediate flag, a candidate warning and a notification to the interviewer. Engineering in Coimbatore.
What we don't have: published certifications, a named ATS list, G2 reviews, published pricing. Compared against HireVue's compliance stack, that's a real gap and we'd rather say it than have you find it.
Fit: India-centric volume technical hiring where interview fraud is the live problem.
Talview
The closest thing to a like for like swap with an India story. Founded by IIT Bombay classmates in 2012, India operations, named Indian customers including TCS, Cognizant, Reliance Industries and HCLTech. Ivy is the AI interviewer. Behind it is a genuinely deep proctoring business: automated, record and review, live human and in centre proctoring, a lockdown browser, an integrity score. 2,000 plus assessments, 80 plus coding languages, 16 named ATS integrations. G2 4.4 from 118 reviews.
Caveats worth knowing. Their compliance page hasn't been updated since April 2022 and lists a different framework set than their trust centre, with SOC 2 Type II on one and ISO 27001 on the other. They publish no India residency statement and their CIO page cites GDPR and CCPA without mentioning DPDP. Identity verification is a separate product from Ivy, not built into it. And their own site gives two different interview capacity numbers, 3x on one page and 10x on another.
Fit: enterprises that also deliver exams, or that want the longest India enterprise customer list.
HirePro
Bengaluru, part of the Careernet group, and the most detailed fraud spec published by anyone in this category. Their AI Recruiter page claims 30 plus fraud signals: real time detection of deepfakes, virtual cameras, recorded feeds and stand-ins; unauthorised AI assistance identified through content, style, speech patterns and typing analysis; government ID matched to face and name and rechecked mid interview; detection of identity switches partway through a session. Axis Bank and Delhivery named as customers.
No published methodology behind any of it, no pricing, no G2 presence, and the same page that claims DPDPA says the platform runs on AWS without naming an India region.
Fit: Indian enterprises buying primarily on fraud detection.
InCruiter
Bengaluru with a Plano office. IncBot handles voice and video interviews. Published fraud claims include dual voice detection, altered video and face swap detection, AI generated voice detection, and a risk score in the report. They also run interview as a service with 4,500 human interviewers, which is useful if you want AI for round one and people for round two.
The thing that sets them apart for an Indian buyer is that they publish rupee prices: ₹1,99,999 a year plus GST for IncVid Pro with 100 interview credits, ₹5,99,999 for Pro+ with 250. Nobody else here does that. Their compliance line reads "SOC 2, ISO, GDPR compliant" with no ISO number, so treat that as unverified. G2 4.6 from 137 reviews.
Fit: mid-market enterprises that want a price before the third call.
iMocha
Pune, operating as Tecknack Technologies Private Limited alongside a Delaware entity. For India customers their terms are governed by Indian law with jurisdiction in Pune, which is the strongest India contracting position of anyone on this list. TARA is their conversational AI, plus automated video interviews with communication analysis and role-based competency matching. Impersonation is handled through government ID and selfie verification, face detection for unrecognised, multiple or absent faces, a cheating intensity rating and virtual machine detection. 20 named ATS integrations including Darwinbox and Ceipal. G2 4.4 from 276 reviews.
No published certification page, no pricing, no deepfake claim.
Fit: enterprises where legal wants an Indian contracting entity and Indian jurisdiction.
HackerRank
If what you actually use HireVue for is technical screening, this is the substitution that makes sense. Chakra runs voice or video AI interviews with adaptive follow ups and coding in an integrated IDE. 22 named ATS integrations. ISO 27001, SOC 1 and SOC 2 claimed. Published pricing at $165 a month billed annually for 120 candidate attempts. G2 4.6 from 561 reviews, the largest review base in the category. Flipkart case study on campus hiring.
They claim no identity verification and no deepfake detection, and they say as much rather than fudging it. You'd pair them with something else if fraud is a concern.
Fit: engineering-led technical screening at volume.
Xobin
Tamil Nadu registered, founded 2016. NURA runs adaptive role-specific interviews. Their trust whitepaper is more substantial than most in this list: ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type II both verified annually, CSA STAR, GDPR alignment, and data processing addendums referencing DPDPA 2023. Proctoring includes eye-gaze tracking, with video processed locally and not permanently stored. Pricing is structured with a distinct India region though no figures are published. Reliance Retail and Digit Insurance named. G2 4.7 from 232 reviews.
Fit: assessment-heavy enterprise hiring where security documentation matters.
Eklavvya
Pune, Splashgain Technology Solutions, CERT-In certified and ISO 27001:2013. The only vendor we found anywhere that names specific Indian languages: Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Gujarati, with reports in the regional language. Video, voice and text interviews, hybrid AI and human evaluation, face recognition, multi-face detection and anti-LLM prevention.
If you're hiring in a language other than English in India, everyone else on this list either says nothing or says "all major languages" without naming one.
Fit: non-English volume hiring.
A caution about every vendor on this page, ourselves included
Not one of us publishes an India data residency commitment. We checked the security, trust and privacy pages of 19 vendors in September 2026. Several display DPDP or DPDPA badges. None states where Indian candidate data physically sits.
HackerEarth's privacy policy makes the point sharpest: it names the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, UK GDPR, CCPA, PIPEDA and Singapore's PDPA, and doesn't mention India's DPDP Act, despite having a Bengaluru entity.
So if you're leaving HireVue because of data residency, verify that the replacement actually solves it. Ask for the region in writing. Most of us will answer. None of us have published it.
Worth adding, since it gets misreported constantly: DPDP does not currently mandate localisation. Section 16 of the Act is a blacklist model where transfer abroad is allowed by default and the government may restrict specific notified countries, and no country has been notified. Rule 15 of the DPDP Rules covers cross border transfer, is scheduled to commence in May 2027, and defers the mechanism to government orders that don't exist yet. MeitY proposed shortening that window in January 2026, so check the current position. Ask about residency as good practice and because sectoral rules like RBI's bind independently, not because the law currently requires it.
FAQ
What is the best HireVue alternative for a company hiring in India?
It depends on why you're leaving. For fraud detection, HirePro and InCruiter publish the most detail and BerriBot runs detection inside the live interview. For an India contracting entity and Indian jurisdiction, iMocha. For enterprise breadth and a long India customer list, Talview. For technical screening specifically, HackerRank. For non-English interviews, Eklavvya.
Does HireVue have an India data centre?
None is published. HireVue's stated hosting footprint is the US and Europe. Their material contains no India data centre, no India entity and no DPDP Act reference. Candidate data is excluded from their public privacy notice and governed by per customer contracts instead.
Does HireVue still analyse candidates' facial expressions?
No. Visual analysis was removed from HireVue assessments during 2020 and the decision was announced publicly in January 2021, alongside an algorithmic audit by ORCAA. Fortune reported that non-verbal data contributed roughly 0.25 percent of predictive power in most cases. Their current approach uses language analysis, cognitive games, situational scenarios and auto scored coding.
How much does HireVue cost compared to Indian alternatives?
HireVue publishes no pricing. Among the alternatives, InCruiter publishes ₹1,99,999 a year plus GST for IncVid Pro and ₹5,99,999 for Pro+, and HackerRank publishes $165 a month billed annually. Talview states a minimum commitment of roughly 150 to 200 candidates without publishing a figure. Most others quote only.
Are Indian AI interview platforms DPDP compliant?
Several display DPDP or DPDPA badges, including TurboHire, Zappyhire and HirePro. Xobin references DPDPA 2023 in its data processing addendums, which is the most substantive version we found. None publishes an India data residency statement, and the core DPDP obligations including the cross border rule commence around May 2027 rather than today.
Which HireVue alternative detects deepfakes?
HirePro claims real time deepfake, virtual camera, recorded feed and stand-in detection across 30 plus signals. InCruiter claims face swap and AI generated voice detection with a risk score. BerriBot detects micro-signals through 3D liveness detection and lip sync analysis and flags smart glasses in real time. Talview markets against deepfake identities at the platform level, though their Candidate Verification page does not name deepfake detection. None of these vendors, ours included, publishes methodology or false positive rates.
